Albino Animals

Albinism is a inherited disorder characterized by the complete or partial absence of pigment in the skin, hair and eyes due to absence or defect of an enzyme involved in the production of melanin. Albinism results from inheritance of recessive gene alleles and is known to affect all vertebrates, including humans.

 While an organism with complete absence of melanin is called an albino an organism with only a diminished amount of melanin is described as albinoid. An animal or plant with a marked deficiency in pigmentation.

Panthera leo krugeri - White Lion



White Lion is the rarest animal in the world. The scientific name for white lion is Panthera leo krugeri. It usually found in South Africa. The white lion cub would be attracted by predators like the hyena, or have difficulty concealing themselves when hunting on the savannah. The white lion have pigment visible in the eyes like golden color, blue-grey, and green-grey. Actually White lions are not albinos, but are leucistic and the rare one among the animals in the world.

White Alligator - Mississippiensis





The Scientific name for white crocodile is Alligator mississippiensis , and is one of the rare animal in the world. Usually it was white in color and also found in south east United States: Florida and Louisiana, the southern parts of Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi, coastal South and North Carolina, and Orissa. The eating habits for white alligator is fish, turtles, small mammals, birds and other reptiles and size is about 9 to 14 feet. White Alligator life span is up to 50 years.
