Meerkat SuricataThe scientific name for Meerkats is Suricata suricatta. It generally found in South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique, southern savanna and grassland areas., and their distribution depends on the soil type. The male suricata averaging is about 731 grams and female suricata is about 720 grams, and its body and legs of meerkat suricata is long and slender.

Suricata head and body length is, i.e., about between 250- 350 mm, and their ears are small and crescent-shaped. Meerkats have been live for up to 12 years, but its lifespan is about 5 to 15 years. Meerkats is an
insectivorous species and it will eat small vertebrates, eggs, and plant matter.

According to African popular belief i.e., mainly in the Zambian region, the meerkat is also called as sun angel, because African people belief that, meerkats protects villages from the moon devil.
